
Traveller and Roma culture to be taught in Irish schools
The Department of Education is developing plans to embed Traveller and Roma identity into the national school curriculum, aiming to foster greater cultural understanding and pride. The initiative includes hiring 15 community-rooted link workers to support engagement between schools and families in high-enrolment areas.
These culturally sensitive mediators will also help address challenges around attendance and representation. The move reflects growing recognition of the need for inclusion and respect within Ireland’s education system.
