StudentVolunteer.ie has been named winner of the Most Innovative Digital Transformation Award at the Education Awards 2026, recognised for a platform that harnesses technology to connect students with causes that matter, building civic identity and community belonging at a scale that demonstrates what digital innovation in education can achieve when it is directed at genuine social purpose.
The Platform+ initiative sits at an intersection that is rarely addressed with this level of ambition: technology, education, and community impact working together rather than in isolation. By creating accessible, structured pathways for student volunteering, the platform has generated 22,012 volunteering hours valued at €311,470.
The platform's accessibility focus was a notable feature of the submission, ensuring that the initiative is not only impactful at scale but genuinely inclusive in how it reaches and serves its users. Technical advancements within the platform, combined with strong adoption rates, gave judges a clear picture of an initiative that has matured beyond pilot stage into a credible, expanding model with demonstrated outcomes.
Judges were emphatic in their assessment. "With 22,012 volunteering hours valued at €311,470, the platform demonstrates how technology can create meaningful societal impact. The scale of adoption, technical advancements, and strong measurable outcomes showcase the initiative's success, while its accessibility focus ensures inclusivity and credibility. A truly excellent example of digital transformation addressing a global issue," the panel stated.
The win reflects the standard the Education Awards apply to digital transformation entries, where the strongest submissions demonstrate not just technical innovation but clear, evidenced impact on the people and communities the initiative is designed to serve.
The Education Awards 2026 gala took place on 16 April at the Johnstown Estate, Enfield, Co. Meath.
