UK training provider Learnmore has launched four new apprenticeship programmes in artificial intelligence and data science, designed to help businesses upskill staff at a time when AI skills shortages are reported across the overwhelming majority of UK organisations, as reported by Facilities Management Journal.

The new programmes comprise Level 3 AI Essentials, Level 4 Applying AI For Business, Level 3 Data Essentials and Level 4 Applying Data For Business. The Level 3 courses are designed to build confidence in using AI or data science in everyday workplace settings, while the Level 4 programmes develop higher-level skills enabling professionals to apply their knowledge towards specific business goals.

The programmes are open to colleagues working across any business department, positioning them as accessible to a broad range of employees rather than specialist technical staff alone.

Research commissioned for the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology found that AI skills shortages are widespread across UK organisations, with 97% reporting at least one gap. A further 57% identified technical shortages in areas such as data science, while 28% said these gaps were already affecting their ability to achieve business goals.

Charlie Gray, Client Director at Learnmore, said the programmes were developed in direct response to employer demand. "As organisations aim to turn AI and data potential into results, our new Level 3 and Level 4 apprenticeships focus on the practical, everyday skills which businesses are crying out for," he said.

Faith Mills, Commercial Director, said the programmes are designed to create capable everyday users of AI and data tools rather than technical specialists. "Businesses do not just need highly technical AI and data experts, it needs everyday 'champions' who can use their learning safely and efficiently to drive commercial value," she said. "Our Level 3 and 4 programmes put practical data and AI tools directly into the hands of employees from day one, ready to harness the opportunities ahead."

Learnmore is based at The Lantern in central London and delivers apprenticeships and qualifications across leadership and management, facilities management, hospitality, women in leadership and learning and development. Clients include Mitie, ISS and Impact Food Group.

The launch extends Learnmore's apprenticeship portfolio into two of the fastest-growing skills demand areas across the UK workforce, as employers across facilities management and other sectors seek structured pathways for building internal AI and data capability at scale.
