Trinity researchers win ERC grants to explore AI for conflict prediction and language preservation

Two Trinity College Dublin academics have secured major European Research Council (ERC) grants to harness AI in tackling global challenges. Prof. Thomas Chadefaux will lead AICAP, a €150K project using AI and real-time data to forecast conflict and provide early-warning tools for governments, NGOs, and businesses. 

Meanwhile, Prof. Tim Bodt begins Lo-Rig, a €1.5M project to document and preserve endangered languages in Bhutan using cutting-edge computational and field methods. The awards highlight Trinity’s leadership in interdisciplinary, high-impact research at the intersection of technology, society, and culture.
