Saudi Arabian edtech startup GAGA has secured $2.5m (€2.18m) in a pre-Series A funding round led by Phoenix Venture Partners, with participation from family offices and individual investors, as reported by Wamda, bringing its total funding to $4.2m (€3.66m).
Founded in 2021 by Abdullah Alkharsani and Eyad Alshabaan, GAGA delivers live, interactive online education for students aged 4 to 18, offering more than 1,000 programmes across 200 subjects combining academic and skills-based learning through real-time teacher-student interaction.
The platform distinguishes itself from traditional recorded content providers by focusing on live, gamified learning experiences designed to improve student engagement and measurable outcomes.
Unlike passive digital learning tools, GAGA connects students directly with teachers in real time, creating a more dynamic and personalised learning environment that the company says addresses limitations of both private tutoring and non-interactive online platforms.
The funding will be directed towards expanding the platform's teacher network, enhancing its technology infrastructure, and scaling Arabic-language educational content across Saudi Arabia.
GAGA is also developing AI-powered tools to personalise learning journeys, assess student performance and identify knowledge gaps, enabling adaptive educational paths tailored to individual needs. The continued development of these AI capabilities forms a central part of the company's growth strategy following the raise.
The investment positions GAGA within a broader regional push to modernise education delivery across the Middle East, where demand for scalable, Arabic-language digital learning solutions has grown alongside increasing internet penetration and youth population growth.
With total funding now at $4.2m (€3.66m), the company is targeting a leading position in the Kingdom's alternative education market as it scales content, technology and teaching capacity simultaneously.
