Google for Education is taking free, full-day Gemini training to educators through a regional roadshow, with six confirmed stops running from Leeds on 5 October to Portsmouth on 2 March 2027. The sessions pair hands-on tool use with guidance on governance and rollout, giving schools a practical route to introducing generative AI across whole institutions.

After Leeds, the programme visits Coventry on 22 October, Newcastle on 11 November, Bristol on 18 November and Nottingham on 2 February, while Blackburn and Peterborough dates remain to be confirmed. Sessions cover Gemini, Gemini Notebook and Google Workspace Studio, with content on lesson planning, assessment, marking, emails, reporting and responsible student use.

Google, the Mountain View-headquartered technology group owned by Alphabet (Nasdaq: GOOG, GOOGL), reported second-quarter 2026 results showing revenue of $119.8 billion (approximately €104 billion), up 24%, and operating income of $40.8 billion (approximately €35.5 billion). Google for Education, its schools and universities division, supplies the classroom tools the roadshow trains teachers to use.

The structural driver is the shift in school AI use from individual experimentation to institution-level implementation, which the roadshow addresses by covering how Gemini could be introduced and scaled rather than limiting sessions to prompt demonstrations.

Anna Artemyeva of Google for Education said the events are designed to deliver "hands-on, free, in-person training sessions across the country," while Anu Manthri, who works on Gemini Education at Google, said attendees will also have a chance to earn Google's educator AI certification.

Educators unable to attend can use monthly live training, virtual twilight sessions on 5, 6, 7 and 8 October, or a 90-minute Gemini Academy certification session combining an hour of training with a 30-minute exam. Separate free Learn and Explore AI workshops, delivered with Parent Zone, run for around 45 minutes, and in Ireland Google has backed an ADAPT-led programme for post-primary teachers.

For the sector, the roadshow confirms that technology providers are packaging teacher AI training as structured, certified, regionally delivered programmes aimed at school-wide implementation.
