Indian edtech startup Emversity has raised $30m (€25.93m) in a Series A funding round led by Premji Invest, with participation from Lightspeed and Z47, to expand its upskilling programmes for graduates across multiple sectors.

Founded in 2023 by Vivek Sinha, ex-COO of Unacademy, Emversity operates an upskilling platform that collaborates with colleges, universities and employers to improve workforce readiness.

The platform identifies hiring and skills gaps across specific roles, co-developing skill qualification modules with employer L&D and operations teams, which are embedded into university curricula to make students job-ready from day one.

The capital will be used to deepen Emversity’s presence in healthcare and hospitality skilling programmes while expanding into new sectors, including infrastructure-led engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and manufacturing. A portion of the funds will also strengthen the technology stack, supporting scalable course delivery across the platform.

Emversity monetises through educational institutions while offering programmes to employers at no cost. Partner companies include Fortis Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, Aster, KIMS, IHCL (Taj Hotels) and Lemon Tree Hotels.

In addition to degree-linked programmes, the startup offers short-term (9–12 months) certification courses in healthcare and hospitality in affiliation with India’s National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), targeting graduates struggling to secure employment through traditional pathways.

The company began operations with 10 campuses in 2024, which has expanded to 42 campuses across 23 states. Emversity plans to scale to 400 campuses over the next 2.5 years using the newly raised capital. Its regionally distributed model allows candidates to access employment opportunities closer to home, adapting to varying talent demand by sector and geography.
