Celestine Rowland

Celestine began her career as a lecturer and teacher and has over 30 years' experience in developing and managing Galway Business School and Galway Cultural Institute. Her key responsibilities are ensuring the viability, diversity and sustainability of the organisations, strategic planning and future proofing the operations, engaging with external stakeholders; attending international conferences to meet with existing and potential partners; and ensuring that the organisations are sufficiently resourced to meet current and future needs of learners. She is passionate about education and ensuring that the student experience exceeds expectations and delivers on the academic goals of each learner. She has been actively engaged in the main sector organisations and is a member of the Higher Education Colleges Association, the International Association of Language Centres (IALC) and Eaquals. She was President of IALC 2012 - 2015, and was the IBEC representative of the governing body of Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT - now ATU) from 2014 - 2019. She is a founder member of ELE-Ireland and is actively engaged in promoting Galway as a destination in which to study.
